GBRf’s specialist teams use careful and flexible planning of people and rolling stock to respond to peaks and troughs of demand. This means that we get the best use for our customers from our fleet of 160 locomotives and over 1,400 wagons.

The men and women driving our trains are the key to getting our customers’ freight to where it needs to be safely and on time. That is why we recognise this and treat them as Train Managers. They work with our customers to help deliver a service that far exceeds our competitors.

We make switching to us from another supplier seamless and trouble-free, placing great emphasis on professionalism, planning and clear communications.

Our specialist approach to planning for our customers, our Train Managers and our account management means that we have welcomed new customers and retained existing ones each year since we were founded. The GBRf team work with Drax, Network Rail, EDF Energy, Aggregate Industries, Crossrail and Tarmac, amongst others.

In January 2016, GB Railfreight commenced a contract with GRS Rail Services for the movement of circa 360kt of stone per annum between Tarmac owned quarries at Mountsorrel (Leicestershire) and Swinden (near Skipton) and the GRS Rail Services aggregates depot at Wellingborough.

ATC Case Study

ATC

GB Railfreight, on the basis of previous impressive delivery, were called on by ATC to provide additional groundstaff to assist in the Crossrail tunnel ‘fit out’ programme. The opportunity presented itself with a lead time of only several weeks in which to recruit, train and prepare up to 15 groundstaff with traction-competence.
