We’re doing what we can to help the planet – from moving to electric locomotives to helping cut the UK’s carbon footprint.

The average aggregate train can move 1800t of material in one journey, the equivalent of 55 articulated lorry journeys.

An average freight train produces 74% less CO2 for each tonne of goods moved, helping companies across Britain meet their environmental targets.

At GBRf, we are committed to the global ambition to reach Net Zero by 2050 in order to slow down the devastating impact of climate change.

We’ve worked with Furrer+Frey GB and Tarmac to transform a terminal in Northamptonshire into the first in the UK to demonstrate an innovative overhead electrification system.

We work closely with the RSSB and the University of Derby to trial and embed decarbonisation initiatives across the industry and are a proactive member of the RSSB’s DECARB programme.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust

We have a long-running partnership with our office neighbour, the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, and have been a Gold Corporate Sponsor of the Trust since 2018.

We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations, and that goes beyond our locomotives.

Our offices, depots and training centres have been carefully modified to reduce our impact.
