GBRf operate Intermodal services to and from the three largest ports in the UK. Transporting around 30% of all containerised traffic, including High Cube containers through the Port of Felixstowe serving Hams Hall, Birch Coppice, Doncaster, Rotherham and Manchester.
Our services also operate through Southampton and London Gateway servicing the Midlands and Yorkshire.
Contracting with the Shipping Lines, Freight Forwarders and Haulers, GBRf also offers a delivery to door service. This supports the road haulage industry allowing them to use rail to streamline the movement of their strategic logistics service and maximise driver and vehicle resources. This also provides an Environmental benefit by being ‘greener’.
In addition to our extensive UK rail freight network, GBRf also operate services to and from Europe; as one of only two Freight Operators permitted to run freight trains through the Channel Tunnel.
Automotive Rail Freight
GB Railfreight provides a rail logistics solution to support the automotive companies by transporting cars and commercial vehicles in specifically designed transporter wagons.
Using rail can help to lessen costs by transporting large volumes, reducing the environmental impact and simply the process of supply chain, allowing for more flexibility within logistics planning.
GBRf’s strategic vision for the automotive network is to expand our portfolio by introducing services to support the automotive components industry. By using our expertise in the movement of goods to and from Europe, we are able offer lower unit costs for our customers on movement and importing of automotive parts and exported vehicles.
GBRf has grown its Intermodal business by 36% in twenty-foot equivalent units (teu) terms. Robust planning for addition services has meant that despite this huge increase in activity we have maintained performance standards for all our customers..
All GBRf trains operate at 610m trailing and are formed of 32 – 37 platforms and provide the best mix of wagons in the industry (IKA / FEA / FBA / FWA / ECO) to optimise length and customer requirements.
GBRf have added 804 twenty-foot equivalent units (teu) daily and we estimate that we have removed 201 lorry moves per day on a round trip basis from the UK’s three deep sea Ports..
