GBRf are continuously moving a range of fuels for Energy Generation across the country. Our contracts with Drax Power, Jera Commodities and Uniper gives us 85% of the market share of coal movement alone. Working with Drax Power we operated the inaugural service wagon to transport Biomass which has led to us winning additional customers such as Lynmouth Power. Our Biomass deliveries are circa 115,000 tonnes per week using around 80 trains.
Used in the production of fuel and plastic two trains per week of gas condensate between Parkeston Refinery to North Walsham for Haltermann Carless UK.
For the manufacturing industry we are key in moving steel and gypsum.
We transport both Desulphurisation Gypsum (bi product from coal fired generation) & natural mined rock used in the production plaster board and cements. Our gypsum customers British Gypsum and Etex Group see us move 15 trains per week between East Leake, Robertsbridge, Newbiggin and Ferrybridge, while our contract with Tata steel sees us move 87,000 tonnes of steel coil between Port Talbot – Isle of Grain and Trostre – Tilbury.
Each year GBRf move large amounts of material for energy generation. Per year GBRf will move circa 4mt Coal, circa 5mt Biomass and deliver to 4 of the 6 key power stations.
GBRf is proud to help fuel the UK’s energy generation. 63% of UK energy generation is from fossil fuels Coal, natural gas & petroleum and 17% is from renewable sources.
