GB Railfreight hauls raw materials and finished goods including gypsum, aggregates, limestone, and iron ore, giving its customers an attractive and viable alternative in the construction materials’ haulage market.
GBRf is a trusted partner of the construction industry helping to move primary aggregates and construction waste across the UK to enable the development of some of the UK’s biggest infrastructure projects.
Through contracts with Tarmac, Aggregate Industries, Cemex, Hanson and GRS Roadstone. GBRf moves circa 5 million tonnes of aggregates and 600 thousand tonnes of cement across the UK every year.
Utilising the development of railheads in Manchester, Leeds and London, GBRf moves circa 500 thousand tonnes of construction waste to treatment centres and landfill sites across the UK in partnership with FCC Environment, Biffa and Walsh.
GBRf moves Gypsum rock and Desulphogyspum from import locations and power stations to processing facilities on behalf of British Gypsum and Siniat for the production of plaster and plasterboard.
GBRf also provides internal logistics solutions to UK industry. At Celsa’s Cardiff works, GBRf moves finished and part finished products on Celsa’s internal rail network.
GB Railfreight operates ten DI8 locomotives to provide internal shunt logistics at the British Steel facility in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. Contracting with EMD to provide the maintenance resident on our customers sites.
