Latest performance figures show a record number of coal train services being run during November and confirm the rail freight haulier’s position as the third largest freight operator in the UK.
The new figures show a 51% increase in the amount of coal services being undertaken by the organisation, compared to the same period in 2007- 2008, and show First GBRf has run 39% more trains so far this year, compared to its nearest rival, DRS, putting it in the top three UK operators behind EWS and Freightliner.
Commenting on the report, John Smith, Managing Director at First GBRf’s said: “We are extremely pleased to see a big increase in the number of coal services we run, especially in the current economic climate. It is also great to see that the figures confirm our place as the UK’s third largest freight operating company and that we have managed to achieve this position is less than a decade of being in business.”
“The figures show our customers clearly like our innovative style of operating. With record levels of reliability, flexibility working practices that allow us to run more trains at shorter notice and our committed workforce who always go the extra mile, have ensured that we operate as many services as possible.”
Such high levels of services have been achieved following increased demand from customers and come as First GBRf reports a 17% increase in turnover and staff numbers reach 320.
