GBRf achieves environmental accreditation 22 September 2006

GB Railfreight has been accredited to the ISO 14001: 2000 environmental standard as the company continues to work to improve the sustainability of its operations and reduce its environmental impact.

The certification was achieved through the efforts and commitment of GBRf staff to enhance and improve their working environment. The award builds upon the company’s accreditation by the British Standards Institution for Quality Management System ISO 9001:2000, received in June this year.

ISO 14000 is one of a series of international standards that provide a framework for the development of an environmental management system. ISO 14001 is one of the most well known and respected environmental benchmarks recognised by industry and government throughout the world.

Paul Smith, GB Railfreight's Head of Safety said: “I am delighted with this accreditation to ISO 14001: 2004. It is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the GBRf environmental team, all staff in general and our suppliers.

“This accreditation along with our ISO 9001 certification earlier in the year further reinforces the professional ethos of the company”.
