GBRf scores highest in staff survey 02 February 2010

First GBRf, the UK’s leading freight haulier, has achieved another first by producing the highest scores amongst internal benchmark comparators in First Groups latest staff survey ‘Your Voice’.

The survey, conducted by global professional services company Towers Perrin, showed that 88 per cent of staff within First GBRf fully supported the company’s values and 86 per cent were proud to be part of the company.

Furthermore, 91 per cent of staff stated they were willing to work beyond what is required in their job in order for the company to succeed.

The recent results showed that First GBRf had maintained significantly high levels of staff engagement over the last year in spite of the challenging trading conditions.

There were also some notable improvements in the last year, in particular:

staff noted that they felt that they had received increased recognition from their immediate manager for their work; felt their team got additional feedback on how satisfied the company’s customers are with the work they do and felt senior management were effectively managing changes within the business.

John Smith, managing director, First GBRf, said: “I recognise the importance of communicating with our staff in appropriate ways to make sure they feel valued.

“They are the reason we have been able to grow the company to what it is now and I don’t underestimate their worth in sustaining that growth over the coming years.”

The 2009 survey showed that the scores for First GBRf were generally above those of a national benchmark norm, and on a par with companies regarded by Towers Perrin as ‘High performing’ due to their financial performance and employee engagement.
