GBRf raises in excess of £21,000 for Help for Heroes 11 January 2010

 First GBRf, the UK’s leading freight haulier, has raised in excess of £21,000 for the charity Help for Heroes.

 

Over a period of nine months, eight nationwide teams from First GBRf raised this impressive amount by holding events such as a ‘Top Gear’-style challenge to Croatia and running a charity train on the Southern line from Hastings to Victoria, Hayes Bromley North, Caterham, Tattenham Corner and Richmond.

 

Sarah Walker, volunteer London co-ordinator says: “I would like to thank all the those in First GBRF who took part and who got out there and ‘did their bit’ to raise this outstanding sum of money for Help for Heroes – thank you for helping us to help our heroes.”

 

Other fundraising activities included a charity walk, a Nene Valley Railway open day, a horse racing day, a charity football match, a competition to see how far a picture of First GBRf managing director John Smith could travel, along with beer making, charity Christmas cards and raffles.

 

Jeanette Smith, support services manager, First GBRf, comments: “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all staff, family and friends of GBRf who got involved in either participating or attending events through 2009 to raise funds for Help For Heroes. We recently presented the total amount raised of £21,024.68 to Sarah Walker from Help For Heroes at our Annual Conference, which was a fantastic achievement so a very well done to all involved.”
